Job Description:

Completes reports and relays all information regarding their shift and operations to the Battalion Chief-Shift Commander for inclusion in daily shift logs and transmittal of off-going and on-coming shift reports to department command staff.Monitors apparatus/equipment use and maintenance; Coordinates and conducts multi-function drills and personnel training in conjunction with and sanctioned by the Training and Education Branch.Coordinates with the Battalion Chief-Shift Commander on all operational issues; notifies Battalion Chief-Shift Commander promptly of all variances to department policies or guidelines, accidents or injuries, apparatus or equipment failure, need for apparatus or equipment maintenance, apparatus out of service, changes in unit staffing and any personnel issues involving career and volunteer personnel. The Battalion Chief supervises emergency service operations and must be able to handle a wide range of assignments with relative independence and limited direction. Supervision is received from a Battalion Chief-Shift Commander. Direct supervision is exercised over career and volunteer Station and Company officers as defined in the Chain of Command policy on incident scenes.
