The Assembly. As such, a keen interest in and awareness of domestic and international affairs is essential. Topics of Assembly projects have included aspects of globalization, business, security, urban and social policy, technology, the environment, and arts and culture. In this key position, the incumbent initiates and monitors fund raising for The Assembly's core budget, special activities, and projects. Specific responsibilities include developing strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors and others and the preparation of all written fund raising proposals for projects and events. Therefore superb wiring skills are paramount. A successful candidate will participate in the oversight and direction of The Assembly and help to identify viable Assembly projects building on the organization's strengths and resources. The ability to have substantive and social interaction with The Assembly's distinguished board of trustees as well as with Assembly participants of similar stature is necessary. Tasks and other responsibilities assigned as required. Some travel and extended hours are required. The American Assembly is a national, nonpartisan public affairs forum, which illuminates issues of public policy by sponsoring research, organizing meetings, issuing reports of findings and recommendations, commissioning books and other literature. Assembly projects facilitate communication among decision and law makers, and other leading authorities who represent a spectrum of backgrounds, views and interests at structured discussions that follow a discipline known as American Assembly-style meetings. Assembly reports and other publications are used by government and community leaders, academicians, and concerned citizens.
