Job Description:
Supervise medication storage and preparation areas throughout the facility and off-site clinics. Provide for the educational needs of health care professionals, patients, and their families; and monitor and justify all expenses exceeding budgeted targets. Ensure maintenance of an adequate medication supply; safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols; strict control and accountability for medications dispensed to patients; compliance with health system policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services; and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Develop and implement a strategic plan for the pharmacy that supports the mission and goals of the organization; pharmacy services in collaboration with associated department services; and a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the performance improvement plan of the organization. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and Pharmacy Tech Supervisor QualificationsRequired - Prior experience as a pharmacist. New graduates required to have gained pharmacy experience as an intern/extern; License in good standing as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.Preferred - Prior experience in hospital pharmacy and pharmacy management.
