They are the largest fully integrated not-for-profit health care delivery system in metropolitan Chicago and is recognized as one of the top 10 systems in the country. Boasting eight hospitals with 3,500 beds and a home health care company among its more than 200 sites of care, making it one of Chicago land\'s 10 largest employers and the fourth largest in the private sector The position is based in a 695 bed TEACHING hospital that is also one of the few MAGNET facilities in the State of Illinois The Director of Environmental safety will provide the vision, direct, coordinate, plan and execute overall environmental safety strategies and tactics in order to meet critical regulatory standards, codes and laws so that the organizational status of member in good standing is protected and maintained (IDPH, JCAHO, OSHA, etc), and in order to meet the criteria for state, federal and medical education funding. This person will also serve as the Hospital Safety Officer (as designated by the hospital president) and site expert in all matters related to environmental safety which includes, but is not limited to, such things as Environment of Care standards, NFPA, Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), EPA, IEPA, etc. Finally, they will direct, coordinate, plan and manage the overall administrative and operational functions and personnel related to environmental safety (Security, Parking, and Equipment Processing and Distribution).
