Job Description:
Must be physically able to operate each of the various types of school buses used to transport students to and from school. Must pass an annual physical as prescribed by state standards and Georgia Code. 2. Must meet all qualifications as outlined by state law and the Georgia Department of Education. 3. Must have knowledge of Richmond County geographical area, location of board of education facilities and schools, and understand the workings of the overall transportation system. 4. Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Transportation in training substitute drivers and other system employees to drive school buses. Works on a twelve-month basis with vacation and holidays as outlined by the Board of Education 5. Responsible for administration of the School Bus Driver Training Program established by the Georgia Department of Education and supplemented by the policies and procedures of the Richmond County Board of Education. 6. Responsible for administration, filing and safekeeping of all records required by the Georgia Department of Education Training Program and training-related documentation required by Richmond County Board of Education. 7. Supervises the Driver Trainer. 8. Supervises drivers and substitute drivers in driver training and route situations. 9. Must be clean and neat in appearance. 10. Must be able to work well in a cooperative relationship with drivers and administrators. 11. Must attend all driver meetings and workshops held by the State Department of Education or local Transportation Department. 12. Must operate all buses within state law (speeding, stopping at railway crossings, pre-trip inspections, use of lights, use of seat belts, etc.) 13. Must use the bus only on official board business.
