Although it is not mandatory preference will be given to candidates who hold a library science certificate. · Preference will be given to Huron School District residents, given equal qualifications. · Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Goals: Every student must learn to think rationally and creatively, solve problems, manage and retrieve information to be successful lifetime learners. Responsibilities: · Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. · Teach information literacy skills that allow students to communicate, solve problems, and access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information to improve learning. · Implement the Michigan K-12 Curriculum Standards and Benchmarks for Information Literacy. · Create an atmosphere that promotes appropriate library behavior and skills and instills an appreciation for great works of literature. · Plan hands-on, real life activities that support the overall school curriculum. · Create an environment where children can express themselves. · Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports and/or grades as required. · Provide assistance with special activities and programs.
