Job Description:
Our law school's program is unique and innovative: we are the premier co-operative legal education program in the country; we are non-competitive in that we do not have grades, class rank or law review; we value and embrace diversity in our student body and in our curricular offerings; and we have a strong commitment to social justice and public interest law. The Assistant Dean will have primary responsibility for creating a marketing strategy which promotes our unique program to the broadest and most diverse applicant pool possible. This strategy will require creative and effective coordination of the school's current students, faculty, staff and alumni/ae to assist in recruitment and conversion efforts as well as the development of marketing materials and tools. The Assistant Dean manages and supervises the activities of the Admissions office staff which includes four other professionals and one support staff member, as well as numerous work study and part-time students. In addition, the Assistant Dean works closely with the Director of Financial Aid. The Assistant Dean's primary administrative duties include the establishment of effective and efficient procedures regarding the processing and maintenance of applicant files, the assessment of the operation's data collection and record-keeping needs and the development and implementation of systems to meet these needs, the development of appropriate Admissions Committee protocols and decision-making time frames, and regular assessment of the department's efforts at meeting enrollment goals. The most significant challenge of this position continues to be maintaining and increasing the quality and diversity of the applicant pool. Qualifications JD, MBA or other appropriate advanced degree required.
