Job Description:
Determine special needs of assigned target groups; recommend and implement services designed to increase self-help skills of the individuals, families, and communities targeted. Participate in the planning and operation of public health clinics. Interview, counsel and case manage patients, perform diagnostic tests, give prescribed treatment, record data and make necessary referrals. Participate in community organizations to promote public health and advise on health department services. Participate on multidisciplinary teams designed to develop case-management plans, determine and/or act as the care provider responsible to achieve the anticipated outcomes. Skills / Requirements Certificate: Applicants must possess or be eligible for a valid Public Health Nursing Certificate. Write the PHN certificate number on the application. Registration: Applicants must have a valid license as a Registered Nurse from the California Board of Registered Nursing issued by the State of California. This certificate requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Write the RN or IP number and expiration date on the application. Experience: One year of experience as a Certified Public Health Nurse. Substitution: A Master's degree in Public Health or Nursing may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Conditions of Employment Part-time, temporary, and full-time positions are available. Applicants with an Interim Permit are eligible for temporary appointment. Travel: A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment.
