Johnson Memorial Library is a new, 13,000 sq. ft., facility that formally opened in July 2002. The library consists of a computer lab, media-resource center, computerized testing center, reading rooms, and large service area. The library has an extensive medical textbook collection and has print and online journal subscriptions through EBSCOhost Medline with Full Text. The mission of SABA University is to provide an outstanding medical education curriculum to a dedicated group of 300 students from the United States, Canada and abroad. The library staff works with students to enhance self-directed learning and promote academic excellence. The librarian also participates in the Introduction to Medical Informatics class for first term students. SABA University's basic science campus is located on the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba, approximately 20 miles from St. Maarten and other tropical islands. Saba is a small, Caribbean island, with a friendly, English speaking population, and is noted for having virtually no crime, poverty or unemployment.
