Job Description:
This candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and reliable accounting records and providing accurate and timely financial reports related to derivatives under SFAS 133, SFAS 157 and other applicable accounting guidance. He/She will ensure that derivative transactions are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and evaluate new or proposed accounting guidance to determine impact on existing operations.
Job Requirements:
Manage derivative accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC guidelines.
· Apply knowledge of SEC rules and regulations and GAAP theory, including but not limited to derivatives accounting.
· Interface with Commercial Operations to understand business operations, discuss strategies and identify potential issues.
· Review and document accounting treatment for new or proposed hedging strategies and changes to existing strategies.
· Review and document accounting assessment of origination contracts.
· Supervise the maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of the SFAS 133 accounting system and process.
· Perform detailed review of work papers, including journal vouchers, monthly reconciliation's, disclosure schedules, financial settlement processes, among others.
· Assist in managing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) assessments and issues with the Internal Controls Group and the external auditors.
· Monitor new accounting pronouncements and analyze impact on accounting and reporting and lead or assist in adoption process.
· Assist with analysis of tax treatment of derivatives to ensure proper accounting and reporting of such issues.
· Perform other functions within the Derivatives Accounting department as needed. Undertake special projects as assigned by the Director or Assistant Controller.
