Job Description: Assist the Intercultural Services Director and her virtual staff in the Homestay Division of Global Immersions, Inc. Ideal for someone seeking to gain experience in international marketing, international education, business development, public speaking, foreign student advising, cross-cultural counseling, intercultural training, intercultural negotiation, and diversity management.
The scope of responsibilities includes, but is not limited to the following:
Assist in placement and support of international students with American hosts; Co-facilitate and facilitate new student orientations; Assist in recruitment of new homestay hosts including home visits and host orientation training; maintaining host database Assist in intercultural problem solving with clients, students and hosts using cross-cultural counseling and negotiation skills; Assist in planning and facilitation of host events Educate potential clients on homestay services; Communicate (e-mail and phone) with domestic and international clients and hosts; Perform administrative duties as required.
Job Requirements: Strong analytical skills Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions to research challenges Excellent organizational skills PC literate (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, PowerPoint) Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of individuals Detail oriented Experience/understanding of Asian cultures (China, Korea and/or Japan required) Experience abroad (living, studying and/or working) Bilingual (a plus but not required) Team player with a strong work ethic Creative and flexible Strong oral and written communication skills Self-directed and self-motivated Previous relevant experience/internships a plus Reliable Professional accountability Bachelors degree required plus 2 years work experience (International Education/Business or Affairs preferred) Car (required)
