PhD programs in biomedical research and education at the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and with neighboring Rockefeller University and the Sloan-Kettering Institute, has established a joint MD-PhD program for students to intensify their pursuit of WCMC\'s triple mission of education, research, and patient care. WCMC comprises 20 academic departments: seven focusing on the sciences underlying clinical medicine; and thirteen encompassing the study, treatment, and prevention of human diseases, and maternity care. In addition to its affiliation with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, WCMC and Graduate School maintain major affiliations with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, as well as with the metropolitan-area institutions that constitute the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare Network. WCMC is currently engaged in Discoveries that Make a Difference, a campaign to raise $1.3 billion. To date, more than $754 million has been raised toward the goal. Another $300 million in requests is outstanding. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Principal Gifts is responsible for developing and managing a program for the cultivation, solicitation and closing of key principal gifts at and above the $5 million level. He/she will establish and foster collaborative working relationships with development colleagues, physician and administrative leadership, volunteers and trustees to achieve fundraising objectives. Reporting to the Director of Principal Gifts will be a team that, when fully staffed, will include five Principal Gift Officers, the Director of Planned Giving, two Planned Giving Officers, a Planned Giving Coordinator, and a Research team of three.
