The senior staff position directs and oversees the outreach and education programs that Ballet Hispanico conducts in New York City public schools as well as across the country. Ballet Hispanico\'s education division is known as Primeros Pasos. This successful program is poised for growth and offers the right candidate an extraordinary opportunity to propel Primeros Pasos into the future. Programs based in the local schools primarily consist of teaching artist residencies conducted over 12 to 20 weecation program connects with the Company\'s tours, and may include workshops in local schools, master classes, lecture demonstrations, seminars, and artist/audience talk-backs. On the road, Company members serve as teaching artists. Other components of Primeros Pasos which the Director of Education would manage are program evaluation and professional development workshops and other training for Ballet Hispanico teaching artists, Company members, classroom teachers, and school arts specialists. The position requires excellent writing and budgeting skills as well as a thorough knowledge of the arts education field. Position Overview Education is central to the mission of Ballet Hispanico, and this position will be key as the organization grows its programs and expands its reach in the coming years. The three divisions of Ballet Hispanico - Company, School of Dance, Primeros Pasos - all serve an educational purpose as well as fulfilling their unique goals. It is the mission of the organization to infuse education into all its programs whether targeted at children or adults. The Director of Education will be a key resource and inspiration for this effort.
