Job Description:
Manage and coordinate, with the aid of the production manager, art director, production editors, and journals manager, the manuscript-to-book/journal process for annual output of approximately 120 new titles plus 150 reprints, plus approximately 30 journals, in conformity with editorial standards, schedules, and budgets. 2.Will serve as part of senior management group, working closely with the Director and Associate Director regarding list management, budgets, and strategic planning. 3.Assist the CFO with the development of annual departmental budgets for copyediting, production, and design and, in conjunction with the respective department managers, oversee the budgets. 4.Overall supervision of copyediting personnel, production editors, reprints coordinator, in-house compositors, designers, and other editorial and production specialists. 5.Communicate, plan, consult, and negotiate with staff, university purchasing department, and outside vendors to obtain best possible results. 6.Set policies and guidelines for copyediting, production, and design. 7.With copyediting department supervise and monitor free-lance copyediting, proofreading, and indexing. 8.Oversee and monitor free-lance graphic services and typesetting as needed. 9.With production manager, prepare production estimates and specifications. 10.Purchase and monitor typesetting and book manufacturing in conformity with bid specifications and established state procedures. 11.
