Job Description:
Administers local anesthesia, performs single and multiple extractions of teeth, as well as removing unerupted and impacted teeth and residual root tips. Performs restoration of simple and complex caries with standard and prescribed materials such as amalgam, cement, composite, etc. Diagnoses and treats very difficult cases with very little or no guidance or consultation and provides all appropriate dental disease prevention measures such as oral and gingival infections of minor or more complex nature for each patient treated. Performs closed reductions of relatively uncomplicated maxillary and mandibular fractures. Removes routine pedodontic procedures, as well as treating cases of rampant caries in children. Regularly deals with mental health cases presenting patient behavior and communication problems. Perform prosthetic work involving complicating conditions. Diagnoses malocclusions and refers them for proper orthodontic treatment if required. Performs interceptive orthodontic treatment as indicated. Administrative duties include providing assessment, planning, development, implementing and evaluating direct and contract resources for dental services. Participates in development and maintenance of public relations with other health disciplines and tribal health groups as well as the community. Performs other duties as assigned.Key Requirements: Specialized Education Licensure, Certification, or Registration required. Federal employees must achieve time in grade to qualify Major Duties:This position is located in the Kayenta dental clinic. The primary purpose of this position is to provide full senior technical and administrative supervision for the dental clinic. The incumbent will supervise temporary and permanent employees such as dental assistants, staff dental officers and any hygienists that may be on staff by planning, assigning, evaluating and directing work.
