Job Description:
Executive Director works with the higher education community and USAID to establish strategic partnerships between American colleges and universities and institutions in developing countries to enhance the human and institutional capacity of higher education in developing countries, including mobilizing resources of the higher education community and facilitating international dialogue on key development issues. Specific responsibilities include overall program development and leadership, fundraising, budgeting and regular reporting to the HED Board and USAID. Qualifications The leader for this critical international program must have a deep passion for providing meaningful and sustainable assistance to developing countries. In addition, the preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in a related field; experience in higher education and a faculty background; extensive experience in management and supervision; a thorough understanding of international development; experience in working with USAID and other government agencies with a focus on international initiatives; experience in working with higher education leaders in the U.S. and foreign countries; demonstrated experience in successfully planning and administering large international programs, in preparing complex proposals, obtaining funding, and negotiating awards.
