Cree customers range from innovative lighting fixtures makers to defense-related federal agencies. Cree's product families include blue and green LED chips, lighting LEDs, LEDs for backlighting, power-switching devices and radio-frequency/wireless devices. We currently have an opening on our Information Services team for a Communications Engineer. Position Summary: The Communications Engineer will report to the IT Communications and Security Manager and be responsible for much of the Communications Infrastructure used at Cree. This position will work closely with Facilities Engineering and vendors on new and retrofit communications projects. This position will also work closely with IT management to ensure high reliability of Cree's global infrastructure. Position Responsibilities: Responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of Cree's LAN/WAN infrastructure as well as assisting the IT Communications Manager in the design of Cree's data and voice infrastructure. Responsible for the Nortel Meridian Succession PBX; IP, Fiber and Remote Shelves, CallPilot Voice Mail, and Spectralink wireless systems from a design, hardware, and software perspective. Manage Cree's cellular, pager, overhead paging infrastructure, and the associated vendors. Responsible for VPN tunnels and perimeter security. Responsible for our Fiber and Copper premise wiring throughout the facilities.
