Thales Underwater Systems Technology and DRS Program Management Manufacturing and Marketing capabilities. DRS Sonar Systems is located in Gaithersburg, MD, a suburb of Washington, DC. DRS Sonar Systems is seeking a Chief Engineer to provide comprehensive technical leadership for the Companys Sonar/ Undersea Warfare Systems line of business. Responsibilities include the following. Provide overall technical management, co-ordination and direction to all technical teams working within, or on behalf of the JVC. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Responsible for requirements definition, specifications development, analysis, trade off studies, test and integration support. Develop excellent working relationships with all stakeholders including customers, partners, suppliers, and internal DRS and Thales engineering leads. Maintain an up to date knowledge of USW Systems, Products and Capabilities, ensuring that the right solution is applied to every requirement with the minimum of re-design. Lead engineering efforts to develop and keep current the Companys technical roadmap, then oversee engineering efforts to establish system architecture, and oversee design and development of new products Oversee the performance of technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for the line of busine.
