Job Description:
In this position, candidate will be a key personnel of the Surface Transportation Group in the Chicago office, responsible for growing the freight rail/commuter rail practice for the URS Eastern Division. The general area of practice will be the Eastern half of the United States including the Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, and East regions of URS Corporation. Candidate will assist in growing the freight rail engineering business on the public and private sides, and will be working primarily with the Chicago and Decatur offices, but will also collaborate with Class 1 railroad practices in Kansas City, Denver, and Rancho Cucamonga, CA.Additional responsibilities include the following:- Significant interaction with Class I railroads and shortline railroads along with the demonstrated success in leading programs of capacity improvements, rehabilitation, new construction, and overall infrastructure enhancements.- Tracking project leads, maintaining positive client contacts, and leading proposal and teaming efforts to win projects.- Assisting in preparing for client presentations and SOQ documents.- Identifying and building teams for complex and significant railroad projects for project pursuits
