Job Description: Incumbent will be assigned to Health Administrative Service of the Business Office, directing and coordinating the activities of administrative staff assigned to all inpatient ward areas at the Topeka campus. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: provides guidance and counsel necessary to meet procedural and administrative requirements; insures all tasks in assigned areas are completed properly and without delay through daily monitoring, reviewing, training and work adjustments; trains new and current administrative staff and keeps them up-to-date on policy, plans, changes and continuing education; maintains an awareness of available resources and makes recommendations regarding needs and distribution of these resources; maintains a complete source of comprehensive manpower, space and equipment; analyzes work requirements, recommends staffing levels, equipment and other resources needed to accomplish work; maintains a system of internal reviews and quality assurance; prepares recurring and non-recurring reports; compiles statistics; prepares and monitors evaluation data, identifies discrepancies, makes corrections and recommends course of action; analyzes the necessary human resources, equipment and space to effectively support the mission of the individual organizations; assists clinical staff and physicians to provide maximum support to activities; and performs other related duti Federal service. Specialized Experience - Experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position being filled. Clerical experience in a medical setting is required. Specialized experience includes: For the GS-06: performing clerical work in support of the care and treatment given to patients in a ward, clinic or other such unit of a medical facility; planning work to be accomplished by subordinates; evaluating work performance of subordinates; performing clerical duties related to patient care and treatment; preparing reports; and providing miscellaneous support to the medical staff of the unit. For the GS-07: in addition to the duties indicated above, training new and current administrative staff; analyzing work requirements; recommending staffing levels; identifying developmental and training needs of employees; and developing performance plans.
