Job Description:
The role is designed to mentor potential Nurse Managers. The incumbent will serve as the primary charge nurse when scheduled to rotate to off tours. Qualifications: The following is a list of skills and characteristics that will be required and / or expected if assigned to this role: a. Experience in functioning as a charge nurse or similar leadership role is required. b. Demonstrates characteristics and clinical behaviors that reflect the potential for additional leadership development. c. Demonstration of ability to communicate well with patients, families, and staff of all levels. d. Excellent attendance and flexibility in scheduling is necessary. e. Provide other in-service training to other departments. f. Knowledge of facility policies / procedures; able to teach and monitor compliance. g. Collaborate with the employee and Nurse Manager in the evaluation process of employees. h. Prepare time schedules and submit to Nurse Manager for review and approval. i. Collect data for quarterly reports on process improvement activity and program evaluations (i.e. wound care, infection control, patient complaints, medication errors, equipment location, etc.). j. Ensure that medical records are maintained current and complete by monitoring the Nursing Service documentation to verify the entries are descriptive of care rendered and all physician orders have been properly carried out. k. Plan, coordinate, and utilize available staff to accomplish patient care workload. l. Demonstrates, promotes, creates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. m. Other duties as assigned. A BSN from a school of Nursing accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is required. Active enrollment in a BSN program is acceptable. Two-three (2-3) years of successful nursing practice in psychiatry is required. You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.You will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in Licensure for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.
