Clinical Cytogeneticist certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics Two year?s postdoctoral laboratory experience in genetics or related field. Laboratory experience in cytogenetics (usually four years).Previous experience directing a clinical genetics laboratory (usually two years) preferred.Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations required.Must be willing to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Effective communication and inter-personal skills. DUTIES: Directs a full service clinical/diagnostic cytogenetics laboratory performing high-complexity conventional and molecular cytogenetic tests for all northern California providers and inter-regional Kaiser providers. Researches, develops, recommends and implements new laboratory procedures, techniques, and diagnostic tests. Implements, maintains and evaluates technical laboratory procedures, quality control, and quality monitoring programs. Reviews, interprets, and reports all cytogenetic results and provides professional consultation to providers. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, test quality, and staff competency. Ensures high quality, accessible, cost effective and patient focused cytogenetic laboratory services to members across the continuum. Monitors laboratory practice standards, budgets, and staff development.
