In addition to his/her own self-managed projects, the Project Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of small projects that are delivered by the incumbent or by a team of consultant project managers reporting to the incumbent. Finally, the Project Manager shall manage and execute process improvement initiatives within the Facilities Engineering department to streamline work processes, improve customer satisfaction, and drive improvement in project cost, schedule, and quality. This position will proactively partner with key stakeholders within the department and customers across the Genentech network to assist in developing plans to support business objectives. The basic function of this position is to provide innovative and cost effective design and construction strategies for various projects across the Genentech network. Typical examples include the design and installation of new or expanded facilities or major equipment or building renovations. The project portfolio consists of multiple small projects with total project costs up to $5M each. The work may also be of a study or consultative nature to assist clients and/or planning in feasibility and alternative analysis.
