This position requires the ability to translate high level business requirements into code and the ability to code well in the programming language (Java), beyond basic scripting and data queries. It will be an added advantage if experienced in HTML, JavaScript, JSP presentation layer, basic SQL queries, Struts ,AJAX and Web Services. Responsibilities 1. Design (70%) * Works with business and PM\'s to define projects and design new features * Able to project-manage technical aspects of complex projects * Ensures high-quality technical deliverables from their team * Delivers high-quality code that meets design specs * Documents code * Writes unit tests and functional tests * Works with testing group to develop effective test cases 2. Provide on-call support (10%) * Regularly debug and fix application defects as they are reported, whether in the development phase or in production. * Provide off-hours emergency production support via an established on-call schedule. 3. Leadership (20%) * Demonstrate leadership while working in cross-functional teams consisting of project managers, user interface designers, database engineers, and Java engineers from other teams. * Mentor other engineers in software best practices, and help them to become senior engineers. * Serve as proxy for the team manager in meetings, as needed. * Keep manager informed of project status, needs, changes to plan, etc. * Make recommendations to the manager and team regarding development options, alternate technologies, etc Qualifications 1) Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities (SKAs): Functional Competencies.
