Job Description:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the development of cutting edge, nationally-recognized educational programming for varied audiences, including artists, students and general audiences. The Museum staff has dedicated itself to increasing public visibility for its collections and exhibitions, even during the temporary disruption of construction. Throughout this process, the Director of Education will be instrumental in fostering meaningful, collaborative relationships both with staff and in this diverse community of museum users, and in creating means of access for new audiences. The RISD Museum has been an essential feature of the college of the Rhode Island School of Design since its founding over 125 years ago. With a permanent collection of over 80,000 objects from ancient to contemporary art and a dynamic exhibition program, the staff of about 60 is focused on serving both the college and the general community of the region. NOTES: International Candidates Will Be Considered. Negotiable Requirements Successful candidates will have at least seven years of experience in museum education, prior supervisory or management experience, and proven accomplishments working collaboratively to lead dynamic programming.
