Job Description: The Clinical Research Director will create a competitive advantage for the Neurological sector, with a focus on Clinical Research of drug delivery systems and neurostimulators to treat movement and psychiatric disorders. This position is responsible for the design and implementation of pre-market and post-market clinical research programs. The goal of these programs are to meet customer, regulatory agency and payer requirements to develop the medical evidence necessary to demonstrate the key safety, efficacy, cost-effectiveness and quality of life claims for the performance of our products and therapies. Position Responsibilities Manage Clinical Research professionals focused on the conduct of clinical trials for movement and psychiatric disorders. Prepare and manage annual operating budget, the strategic plan and general department logistics and administration for this area of the clinical research organization. Support the management of the entire clinical research organization as a member of the Leadership Team. Ensure the development and implementation of global clinical programs to achieve global regulatory approvals for movement and psychiatric disorder products. Lead the process to define the customer and payer requirements for medical evidence for the safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness necessary to establish our movement and psychiatric disorder products as the standard of care. Direct the development and implementation of pre and post-market approval studies designed to generate the medical evidence necessary to meet customer and payer requirements for movement and psychiatric disorder products. This includes cost-benefit, health outcomes and indication extension studies to ensure successful commercialization worldwide. Direct publication plans in accordance with a clinical research/market development template Direct the development and implementation of key investigator management systems that will insure the broad based participation of key researchers and customers in the design and conduct of global movement and psychiatric disorder trials. Work with peers on the Clinical Research Department Staff to implement business process improvement strategies including maintaining effective contract management, Good Clinical Practices and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements as well as Medtronic Corporate Operating Policies. Direct grant/contract negotiation and implementation at clinical centers, monitor investigator performance to milestones and contract objectives. For movement and psychiatric disorder clinical trials, manage the dynamic relationships inherent in clinical research between the department, customers, sales representatives and others.
