Job Description: Coordinates the function of the CCTO through formulating/revising and implementing the overall strategic plan. This includes development of operational goals and optimal operating structure, devising and implementing management strategies, quality assurance methods and developing and implementing standard operating procedures and processes. * Serves as a member of the Dana Farber Harvard Cancer Center (DFHCC ) Clinical Research Operations Subcommittee (CROS). * Serves as a member of the CCTO leadership committee and participates in strategic management meetings as needed. Administration: * Hires, supervises and evaluates Research Nurses, Clinical Research Associates, Clinical Research Coordinators, Clinical Trial Specialist, regulatory staff and support staff and recommends various personnel action including, but not limited to, hiring, performance management, disciplinary action, promotions and transfers. * Coordinates work flow and assignments to ensure most efficient and effective use of personnel and resources. * Chairs Staff Operating Committee responsible for development and implementation of training programs, new coordinator orientation programs, internal policies and standard operating procedures. * Ensures all CCTO staff complete required orientation and continuing education programs and training, new coordinator training, institutionally mandated training and certification programs, and ensures updated training records are maintained. * Oversees development and implementation of cancer specific training programs as needed. * Conducts periodic staff meetings to ensure staff is kept abreast of institutional goals, initiatives, policies and procedures. * Determines administrative and data management staff needs as protocols are open and conducted in consultation with Program leaders and senior staff. * Provides input on the feasibility of conducting new trials, any personnel conflicts with ongoing trials, and other logistical and administrative issues. * Provides administrative coordination with affiliates and, along with other senior staff serves as the CCTO liaison to the DFHCC, ECOG and other cooperative groups and institutions. * Serves as a resource to Research Administrative staff, physicians, nurses, and non-nursing clinical research staff to identify and provide information needed for special reports, grant applications and other decisions. * Coordinates website updates and maintenance of accrual information.
