Job Description:
Implements cancer proteomics technology initiatives managed across divisions and develops implementation plans for proteomics areas including drafting solicitations, taking concepts through the approval process of the Institute, participating in the recruitment of relevant project staff in taking on new areas for cancer proteomics technology support, or managing awards of resulting programs. Evaluates and analyzes the effectiveness of short and long-term cancer proteomics technology research projects in meeting established goals and objectives; develops recommendations for dealing with project issues and implements the best option. As a technical resource facilitating the implementation of cancer proteomic technology research projects, you will: perform scientific analysis and coordination of the implementation of trans-divisional cancer proteomic technology research initiatives; manage and evaluate cancer proteomic technology research projects; assist researcher in identifying potential collaborators; assist industry representatives in identifying opportunities for cancer proteomic technology research collaboration with develop implementation plans for cancer proteomic technology research areas identified for support through the scientific planning process; and, serve as a resource to scientific program staff in developing cancer proteomic technology research projects. In addition, you will perform scientific analysis and coordination including conducting comprehensive technical reviews of scientific studies, research, and analysis in the area of proteomics technologies and, based on the analyses, make recommendations to the CPTC Program Director on cancer proteomic technology research areas in need of additional development; consolidate funding recommendations or develop funding plans for projects; apply findings in the development of cancer proteomic technology projects or project guidance or directives, or in conducting scientific reviews; prepare reports on selected cancer proteomics technology research activities; and, identify, verify, and evaluate data needed to create reports, analyses or graphics. You will manage the daily technical oversight of grants and contracts in cancer proteomic technology research and biomarker discovery and will oversee scientific and fiscal management of grants and contracts; advise potential grantees and interested parties on appropriate grant and contract mechanisms; provide information on eligibility and review criteria and other administrative decisions regarding work tasks, analyzing needs of various programs, interpreting and evaluating processes and resolving conflicting requirements; and, review and provide recommendations to the CPTC Program Director on contract and grant related issues, including technical and scientific progress.
