Minimum experience includes at least five years in an affiliated senior management position, such as group manager or director, in a large public or private organization, and at least 10 years experience managing related projects. Candidate must also be well-versed in current urban planning and design approaches, including sustainable development, transit-oriented development (TOD), public transit systems, and smart growth development.The candidate must possess strong proposal preparation and presentation skills, and be comfortable in multi-disciplinary marketing and business development roles. He or she must possess a strong sustainable design ethic. He or she must be a well-recognized professional within his or her discipline, with a broad network of professional relationships or established clientele. Job Description : URS has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Planning and Urban Design in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis office of URS is composed of about 130 transportation planning and engineering, infrastructure engineering, water resources, planning, landscape architecture, and architecture professionals. The Director of Planning and Urban Design will lead a group of landscape architects, planners, transit site designers, and architects. The candidate is expected to take a lead role in marketing to enhance the group's local and regional position, and stature with the expectation that the group's size, services, and marketing leverage will increase in time.
