Yes Type of Position Full-time Number of hires: 1 Requisition Number 051308 Summary of Duties The Construction Technologies Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 2008. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the development of courses as part of a new BS Degree in Construction Management focused on heavy civil construction. In addition, the candidate will teach undergraduate construction management courses and direct course projects, create innovative instructional materials and laboratory experiences; supervise extra-curricular activities, as assigned; maintain an appropriate laboratory safety program; develop sources of external collaboration for projects with industry, participate in program assessment activity related to accreditation, advise students on career opportunities, and assume an active role in the planning and governance of the institution through service on department, college, and campus wide committees, participate in professional associations, and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Construction Management or closely related field with experience in the heavy civil construction industry and teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level. Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with professional designations and heavy civil (preferred) and/or commercial construction, materials testing experience will also be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Knowledge of subject matter and course content pertinent to a BS Degree in Construction Management including Building Information Models (BIM); 2. Knowledge of construction materials and testing methods related to soils, foundations, concrete, aggregates; 3. Knowledge of CSI practices, construction law and delivery methods; 4. Knowledge of curriculum and course development; 5. Knowledge of pertinent software tools used by modern construction managers; 6. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; 7.
