Job Description:
Serve as an advocate and resource for all diverse student populations including ethnic/racial groups, GLBT students, and spiritual life activities.Assess climate issues regarding diversity and pluralism within the student body. Conduct program assessment.Provide leadership for institutional initiatives designed to recruit, retain, support, and ensure the academic success of underrepresented students of color:Assist the Admissions Office in the recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented students. Work in collaboration with the Admissions Office to coordinate on campus programs and activities for prospective students of color.Coordinate the gathering and reporting of statistical data on underrepresented students of color enrollment, retention and graduation from WPI and maintain informational databases.Oversee the operation of and develop programs for the OASIS cultural center.Provide leadership to underrepresented student organizations.Coordinate pipeline programs for middle and high school students.Work with the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office in the administration of the Thurgood Marshall/Cesar Chavez/Russell Means Scholarship for admitted students of color.Serve as co-principal investigator of the New England Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, an undergraduate access program for underrepresented students in engineering, science and technology, sponsored by NSF.Implement the Excellence in Mathematics, Science and Engineering program (EMSEP) program for students of African, Latino, and American Indian descent.Design and implement the one week pre-orientation program.
