They must be fair in their treatment of all individuals in regards to work distribution, recognition, and discipline. They must develop a good understanding of the capabilities of the people working for them and pursue training to improve those that need it and develop new competencies in those that excel in their existing traits. They must have the ability to recognize safety related issues in the plant and assign work after explaining and warning the assigned workers of the issues. Responsibilities Performance Objectives Manage the talents of the crew members to get the most: No two people are alike either in attitude or aptitude. It is the supervisor's job to identify the strengths and weaknesses of everyone that works for him and to use those traits to benefit everyone. Use the strengths of one person to train another person so that you are not depending on one person all of the time. Use the ability of one person to bring a larger group of people together to complete tasks that are critical to the success of the company. By using all of the talents possessed by the individuals a stronger group is developed. Provide a team atmosphere for the success of the plant: The supervisor needs to develop the idea within the crew members that they are part of something larger than either themselves of the crew. As part of a maintenance crew they are supporting the needs of the plant, region, and the company.
