Job Description:
We work for justice for people who are homeless, those engaging in sexual exchange, transgender communities and lesbian, gay and bisexual people. Different Avenues combines innovative program approaches that address immediate needs and broader social justice concerns - our programs include direct services, advocacy and community organizing. Summary of responsibilities The Executive Director has the primary responsibility for management, program development and fundraising of the organization. Specific responsibilities include: - assuring programs, management and administration are conducted in accordance with Different Avenues\' vision; - providing overall financial management; - developing and implementing organizational fundraising strategies and initiatives; - crafting programs that reflect Different Avenues\' values and engage and serve the constituency; - monitoring the content and quality of all public representations of Different Avenues to individuals, groups and the media; - supervising and managing all staff. Detail of responsibilities The Executive Director is the chief administrator and personnel officer of Different Avenues. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. To achieve these goals, the Executive Director will: In strategy and business: 1. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the fields of sex worker rights and health, HIV, homelessness, LGBT issues and more. 2. Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress. 3. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.
