The department is part of the finance function of Merrill Lynch & Co. and will provide a good overview of key accounting/reporting functionality within the corporation. Brief Description: Merrill Lynch is seeking a Vice President to join their Accounting Policy group. The individual will be responsible for reviewing transactions from a US GAAP perspective and coordinating locally the implementation efforts for new accounting standards. Job Responsibilities: Key areas of responsibility: Reviewing major transactions and determining appropriate US GAAP treatment Researching and responding the accounting queries from front office and finance professionals Co-ordination of implementation efforts for new accounting standards with the various finance departments, tax, and regulatory Presentations/training on US GAAP updates to local personnel Qualifications: CPA required 5 or more years of experience applying US GAAP Broker dealer or banking background, or Big 4 National Office experience desirable Self Starter Good Communication skills.
