Job Description:
Construction Inspector series. Incumbents are used as resident inspectors on construction projects and may be used to assist in the inspection of large and complex projects. Additionally, responsibilities may include exercising independent judgment in the day-to-day interpretation of standards and specifications as they apply to construction methods and materials, and responsibility for serving as a leadworker to other employees. Examples of Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge Of The materials, methods, tools, equipment and instruments used in road, public utility, bridge and drainage construction and/or the construction and installation of sanitary and water distribution systems Grade measurement techniques Paving methods and use of pipes and conduits required for public works projects Ability To Defect flaws in construction materials Read and interpret plans and specifications Keep records and make simple drawings and reports Deal tactfully and effectively with contractors, workers and the general public Read, write and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance Desirable Abilities Lead and direct the work of others Employment Standards: Minimum Qualifications :Five years experience in general highway, street, or waste water control and drainage construction as a contractor\'s foreman or superintendent, or as an inspector in these areas.Probationary Period: The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months. Supplemental Information: Testing Process Minimum Qualifications - To be accepted into the testing process, the information submitted on the application must clearly demonstrate that the applicant meets the required minimum qualifications by the cut-off date. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications by the final filing date will advance to the next testing phase - the training & experience evaluation exam.Training & Experience Evaluation Exam.
