Job Description:
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :Four years of experience in inspecting or supervising a variety of building construction work.Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of standard practices, methods, processes and tools used in building construction, including standard formulae of structural stability and safety and the accepted safety standards; and methods of inspection and the basic principles of statistics and equilibrium as applied to heavy construction and the ability to apply proper building inspection methods; read and interpret plans, specifications and blueprints; deal tactfully with building contractors and workers; and prepare reports and keep records.Substitution :Any one of the following will substitute for up to two years of the required experience: 1. An Associate degree in architectural or engineering drafting from an accredited college or university; or in the Applied Trades, Architectural, Engineering and CAD Technologies, and Carpentry Technology programs at Honolulu Community College, or similar academic programs from an accredited college or university. 2. One year of general education requirement courses plus these courses from Honolulu Community College, i.e., AEC80 Basic Drafting, AEC118 Construction Materials, BLLPR22 Blueprint Reading, and ICS100 Computer Literacy and Applications, or similar courses from an accredited college or university with grade of C or better. 3. Up to two years of engineering courses from an accredited college or university.In addition, a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited college or university will substitute for up to three years of the required experience.
