Job Description:
The primary duties of the Senior Environmental Scientist are to plan and direct medium to large size environmental planning and compliance projects for transportation, water/wastewater, facilities, land management, and other programs as identified. This will include preparation, planning, and analysis/review of technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents. Work will be accomplished independently and through coordinating or supervising small to large technical and professional teams from local and regional offices. Will also support regional or national projects in specific areas of technical expertise. Will be closely involved in public participation and multiple agency coordination. Will be responsible for project management, including developing and managing budgets, schedules, and quality of products. Although may serve as project manager on larger projects, project management is not sole focus of position.Keyword(s): Senior Environmental Scientist, BS, MS, environmental, Science, planning, compliance, EIS, NEPA. Scheduling, engineering.Experience: Bachelors degree in environmental science/engineering or related field. Masters degree preferred.15+ years of experience in complex environmental planning/compliance projects preferred.Demonstrated Expert knowledge of the NEPA process.Experience managing large, complex EIS documents for transportation, large facility, land management, or other infrastructure projects.Technical expertise in the design, implementation, interpretation and presentation of data for environmental studies and investigations in specialized discipline.Proficient with MS Office. Self starter with excellent writing and communication skills.Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Staff management experience beneficial. Minimum Experience: 15
