Job Description:
The counselor\'s main duties are to use their creativity and counseling skills to: *Teach the children necessary life skills or provide for their physical daily care *Help design and implement each child's treatment plan *Help improve the children\'s behavior The children on our residential campuses have been referred to us for different reasons. Each campus focuses on different referral behaviors such as severe aggression, sexual behaviors, suicidal and self-harming tendencies and many other severe behaviors. *Our campuses: Youth Villages' residential campuses are located in natural surroundings. Children live in cottages with 8 to 12 children of similar ages and with similar problems. Each cottage is supervised by a professional group of staff, which includes a master's-level counselor, overnight teacher counselors and night monitors. Children also have access to a psychiatrist, nurses and other specialized staff. Every campus includes its own accredited school, nursing station, a gym, pool and other modern amenities. *Unconventional schedule to provide structured, quality care for our children & flexibility for our counselors: The Teacher Counselor schedule runs either Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday. Three weekdays: (M-W or W-F) 2:00pm to 10:30pm One weekend day: 6:30am-10:30pm Teacher Counselors spend the night once or twice a week on the campus and have additional responsibility for waking the residents and directing them with their morning routine. This schedule also provides counselors with a three day weekend. (Please note: Counselors do not live on the campuses. If you are relocating we can provide you with a list of area apartment complexes that offer a Youth Villages\' discount.) Since we believe that in growing up, every child should experience some joy in each day- we are seeking dedicated and committed counselors that want to play a vital role in the continued success of our children. A Bachelor\'s degree and some work or volunteer experience with children is required.
