Job Description:
We are looking for the right person to share a very attractive two BR, two BA North Bethesda apartment with one young man (Mark) who has a mild cognitive disability. The counselor will work as part of a team to help to develop, implement, and document a person-centered plansof service. He or she will assist Mark with the running of the household, e.g. helping plan meals, assist with cooking, money management, practical problem-solving, transportation, go with him to medical or therapy appointment, serve as a liaison to families and service providers, and help plan and carry out social and recreational activities. This position includes free rent, free utilities, and meals while on duty. This counsleor would be expected to sleep at the apartment at least five nights/week. (On other nights, he/she is free to stay or go elsewhere.) Schedule: One weekend shift of about 4-6 hours to do a recreational activity. 30-60 minutes most weekday mornings to ensure Mark is getting off to a good start. During the week, possibly 1-2 evening shifts of 3-4 hours each. There is a lot of flexibility; this person could even take on other assignments in the agency and become a full-time employee if desired. Learn more about us at www.jubileemd.org. Additional Qualifications: Valid driver's license and clean driving record of 3+ years. OWN VEHICLE and adequate auto insurance needed (100/300/50); we reimburse for mileage. Several years related experience. Mental health background and experience working with individuals with mild intellectual disabilities helpful. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to forge positive working relationships with multiple parties. Ability to work as part of a team to ensure consistent services.
