Ensure that veterans and their families receive the care, support, and recognition they have earned through service to their country. OIG strives to help VA achieve its vision of becoming the best-managed service delivery organization in Government. OIG continues to be responsive to the needs of its customers by working with the VA management team to identify and address issues that are important to them and the veterans served. The OIG is organized into three line elements; the Offices of Investigations, Audit, and Healthcare Inspections, plus the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management & Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in 24 cities throughout the country. The Office of Audit (OA) activities are nationwide in scope, and the work of the OA impacts the entire VA. OA actions may come under Congressional scrutiny and indirectly impact other programs that serve Veterans and their families. The work also impacts the activities of a wide range of government and non-government agencies conducting business with VA or the OIG. OA work enhances the capabilities of personnel conducting audits and can result in a nationwide impact on VA's effectiveness and efficiency.
