Job Description: General Description: This is a senior-level Systems Administrator/Integrator support position in a web hosting co-location production operations environment. The individual will provide technical support in a production operations environment and must have thorough knowledge of either the WebLogic product suite. This person will perform complex operational tasks that include monitoring of various types of applications used in a web infrastructure, evaluation and diagnosis of escalated calls, analyzing root cause of any problem issues, resolving all software application problems, and escalating any unresolvable issues to the vendor as necessary. This work is in a 7X24X365 environment. Normal shift is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. On-call and weekend work is required.
Typical Duties: Performs operational deployment and support of WebLogic based web applications • Migrating/integrating WebLogic products • Support production based problems/incidents • Write scripts to automate processes for operational staff • Support infrastructure products such as Connect:Direct, Valicert, SNAP-IX, and MQSeries • Maintain applications in a three-tier model and troubleshoot various components • Update and maintain written procedures and work instructions • Work with the architecture team to implement new technologies • Make decisions and involve others as appropriate to avoid unnecessary system outages and failures. • Represent operations and work directly with customers to support their migration tasks
Job Requirements: Mandatory skill requirements are as follows:
• Web infrastructure build and deployment experience (5 years) • Working knowledge of production web hosting environments is required • Strong knowledge of Solaris administration - Solaris 2.8 • Strong knowledge of HTTP and HTTPS • WebLogic system administration (3 years) • Knowledge of TCP/IP troubleshooting • Working knowledge of other Internet Protocols (e.g., DNS, LDAP, Telnet, SMTP, SNMP) • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written • Ability to produce written documentation (procedures and work instructions) • Knowledge of Perl, Korn, or Jython • Strong knowledge of a web products (SunOne, Apache, or IPlanet) – 1 year • Ability to coach junior administrators, foster new talent
Product Knowledge: The following products are also deployed in the TWAI infrastructure. Knowledge and experience with these is not required, but is desirable:
• WebSphere Application Server • Monitoring software (BMC Patrol, Big Brother, etc.) • F5 load balancers (SA-level network exposure). • EMC Symmetrix and SRDF • Valicert and Connect:Direct • MQ Series • Actuate • SNAP-IX • Solaris 10 experience
Desirable Certifications: 1) Sun Certified Systems Administrator for the Solaris Operating System 8+ 2) WebLogic Systems Administrator 3) WebSphere Systems Administrator
