Job Description:
The candidate must have experience in identifying, evaluating and developing ideas for new products, new applications and new markets. This position will work closely with scientists to both stimulate idea generation and to build the business case to support decision making for resource allocation to those ideas. Building the business case will include providing market information, competitive intelligence and value chain understanding, as well as generating insights, and making recommendations. Responsibilities You will have primary responsibility for moving prospective product opportunities through a stage-gate process, ensuring the necessary technical and business thinking is in place to enable decision making. The Business Development Manager will need to work effectively in a cross-functional manner to identify and track progress against key milestones for new product opportunities. The Business Development Manager will also provide analytical support and in some cases manage deal negotiations with prospective partners, suppliers, etc. across the business opportunity value chain as warranted to build the business opportunity, both for new products and for existing products under development. Requirements Qualified candidates will have an MBA and at least five years of business experience including substantial experience in marketing or business development, and negotiating and drafting agreements between companies. Excellent financial modeling and PowerPoint skills, demonstrated ability to develop a business case, and a good understanding of life sciences are essential. Work experience in the industrial sector (business-to-business), or educational background in a scientific discipline such as chemical engineering, molecular biology, or materials science is highly preferred.
