Job Description:
The class is responsible for ensuring that work is done properly, following design and budgetary constraints, and in a timely manner. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Example of Duties: The Department of Public Works - City of Richmond is seeking a qualified candidate to be responsible for a variety of engineering and planning projects, including the City of Richmond\'s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. The selected candidate will work with neighborhood groups, attend meetings as required, develop comprehensive neighborhood traffic management plans providing long-term solutions to traffic issues within neighborhoods and enhancing the overall safety and livability of neighborhoods. This position will negotiate and manage contracts with other City departments and/or consultants for the design of neighborhood traffic calming plans.Candidates should have experience with a transportation consultant and /or municipal transportation department that includes: transportation planning and analysis; principles and practices of program development and administration; methods and techniques of statistical data collection and analysis. Typical Qualification: Requires Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field PLUS four (4) years of increasingly responsible engineering experience.
