Job Description:
This candidate will support operating system and application servers for both UNIX platforms including IBM AIX and Sun Solaris platforms in the areas of systems programming, administration, configuration management, computer resource administration, and computer system security services for the JMD.
* Support AIX and Solaris UNIX operating system environments and software products, including (but not limited to):
o IBM Network Installation Management (NIM), IBM HACMP, IBM LPAR management, Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS), Storage Area Network (SAN), McData switch, Hitachi HDLM, Perl and shell scripting, Ssh Server, Sudo, Tripwire, BMC Patrol, C++, Connect:Direct, Oracle OPS and Oracle RAC, IBM MQseries, IBM WebSphere.
o Support IBM and SUN Hardware platforms including (but not limited to): M80/P660, P4 (P690), P5 (P520/P570/P595) and others. Support Micro-Partitioning, Dynamic LPAR, Virtual I/O.
o Provide software product installations, administration, configuration management to include any required debugging/troubleshooting and monitoring, plus operating system optimization and administration in support of all of the software products used to support the IS UNIX servers.
o Administer IBM AIX and Solaris UNIX operating systems, including: Operating system and software installation and maintenance, file system management, cluster and failover, and backup and recovery.
o Ability to support mission critical servers with minimal downtime and maximum performance. Enterprise level support with emphasis on planning, preparation and testing. Development of highly available high performance servers.
o Perform and maintain backup and disaster recovery using TSM tools for very large-scale volumes of AIX and Sun, and application databases. Develop procedures of and implement on transferring the TSM server from JDC-W to JDC-D and restoring the customer’s applications at JDC-D, as a contingency offsite for disaster recovery.
o Conduct and maintain the IS TCP/IP networking for the support systems on both JDC-W and JDC-W and make appropriate recommendations to improve network operation for the support environments.
o Maintain the knowledge of client/server and Internet/Intranet based application development methodologies and technologies, and make appropriate recommendations based on that knowledge. Resolve complex and critical UNIX system problems.
o Serve as technical specialist on software projects and tasks to support the IS IBM P4/P5 sever complex. This includes planning, installation, configuration, testing and implementation of operating system, network and software products on AIX UNIX-based server systems, and analysis and evaluation of new software products, processes and procedures.
o Provide assistance, advice, and direction to the IS staff, management, and customers on complex technical problems and issues relating to the operation and administration of the UNIX servers.
o Conduct research and develop recommendations for new and improved products or services for AHB. Implement and maintain UNIX Operating System security on all servers in a variety of platforms. Develop technical documentation for the operation and administration of UNIX Systems and products maintained by IS.
Job Requirements:
