A rank and file Education and Training Committee plans and oversees the local union\'s training program. - The basic steward training program consists of five basic workshops (Role of the Steward, Meeting with the Boss, Discipline, Investigations, and Communications). Two to four trainings are held each month. - An advanced leadership academy focuses on internal organizing campaigns. - The field staff and rank and file member trainers participate in running the trainings. - Staff trainings include a 6 week new staff internship program. - Local 521 is one of the fastest growing locals in the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the fastest-growing union in the country. - We represent 45,600 workers who work in 17 central California counties. - Our members work in homecare, healthcare, private and public education and all aspects of local government. - We stand for democratic, organizing and progressive unionism. - We believe in empowering rank and file leaders to carry out the work of the unions. gram consists of five basic workshops (Role of the Steward, Meeting with the Boss, Discipline, Investigations, and Communications).
