Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains oversight and final decision in determining which protocols will be conducted by Covance Global Clinical Pharmacology Units.Reviews and evaluates protocols and Investigator Brochures, and provides clinical and scientific support and direction to Site Medical Directors and Staff Physicians as needed. Assesses the relative safety and risks for the participant population and the scientific rigor of study designs.Provides supervision and leadership for the Site Medical Directors and/or Staff Physicians for staff development, implementation of performance standards, performance appraisals, career assessment, affirmative action, and manages internal and external customer needs. Provides guidance and feedback on scientific/medical issues and individual professional development.Ensures appropriate medical coverage for clinical studies at all Clinical Pharmacology sites.Develops and implements a career path for the physician group.Establishes, supports, and maintains close affiliations with the medical community in all Clinical Pharmacology locations.Discusses medical design aspects with client Medical/Clinical Director counterparts as needed.Attends IRB meetings as appropriate.Provides oversight for data review to determine and support dose escalation decisions as appropriate.Responsible for creation.
