The Office of Inspector General conducts audits, evaluations, and investigations of Departmental activities including such areas as: use of government charge-cards; use of funds provided to the insular areas; and investigations involving embezzlement, bribery, and fraud. To accomplish our goals, we employ a diverse staff with varying skills, including such positions as criminal investigators, auditors, evaluators, program analysts, attorneys, writer-editors, and information technology specialists. We look for employees with a myriad of educational backgrounds, such as business, accounting, criminal justice, communications, and science majors, to bring a variety of perspectives to our organization. Major Duties: This position is located in the Office of Management, Office of Inspector General (OIG), of the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI). The job involves directing the training program for the Office of Inspector General. The employee serves as the principal advisor on education and training functions that affect programmatic and operational activities of the OIG. He/she develops and makes recommendations to senior managers on the potential impact of education/training and employee development issues and suggests methods for obtaining OIG training goals and objectives. The incumbent represents the DOI/OIG in the course of daily business conducted with principals of the Department, and high level officials of other branches of the Federal Government, the Education/Training Community, and the private sector regarding OIG Education and Training objectives. In addition to the high level management advisory service provided by the incumbent, specific work assignments and projects are focused in the following areas.
