Job Description:
The incumbent will supervise temporary and permanent employees such as dental assistants, staff dental officers and any hygienists that may be on staff by planning, assigning, evaluating and directing work. Technical support include reviewing patient medical charts for evidence of disease or abnormalities which could adversely affected by dental treatment and takes necessary precautions to ensure safe and effective treatment. Perform oral examinations, diagnose pathological or irregular conditions, develops patient treatment plans and insures proper referral of patients for necessary medical evaluation of speciality care if beyond scope of general dental practice. Requests required dental radiographs and performs radiographic interpretation. Administers local anesthesia, performs single and multiple extractions of teeth, as well as removing unerupted and impacted teeth and residual root tips. Performs restoration of simple and complex caries with standard and prescribed materials such as amalgam, cement, composite, etc. Dia gnoses and treats very difficult cases with very little or no guidance or consultation and provides all appropriate dental disease prevention measures such as oral and gingival infections of minor or more complex nature for each patient treated. Performs closed reductions of relatively uncomplicated maxillary and mandibular fractures. Removes routine pedodontic procedures, as well as treating cases of rampant caries in children. Regularly deals with mental health cases presenting patient behavior and communication problems. Perform prosthetic work involving complicating conditions.
