Job Description:
Each Public Health Nurse, with the assistance of an interpreter if needed, visits referred families for assessment, and follow-up, if necessary.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:case management and care coordination of an assigned caseload;providing nursing care in the clinical setting as a member of a multidisciplinary team;working in all clinics, Family Planning, Maternity and Child Health;giving immunizations in Open Immunization Clinics as well as other clinics;maintaining appropriate records and documentation to meet local, state and federal requirements;providing health education to clients, families and the community; and,participating in emergency preparedness activities, as needed. Qualification Requirements: On-line application is requiredMINIMUM: Bachelors degree in Nursing plus one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in general nursing and/or community/public health nursing.SUBSTITUTION: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. DESIRABLE: a) Masters Degree in nursing or public health; b) experience in maternal and child health or related field; c) experience in home visitation-related programs; d) experience in providing case management services; and/or e) bilingual ability in English and Spanish. Special Requirements: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or eligible to receive such license or licensed in a compact state. If eligible, candidate will be allowed 60 days to obtain license.
