Job Description: DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for software integration and testing of core switching products. This position reports into the Software Development organization and works closely with software development, hardware, and Systems Validation testing groups.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Optical Communications • 3+ years of experience in development, integration and/or systems test.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyze requirements documents, functional specifications, software design specifications and interface control documents. Use this analysis to develop software/hardware/system integration test plans and strategies. • Document and execute test plans to include: SONET/SDH/GbE/G.709, optical transport hardware/software/systems, element management interfaces (TL1, GDMO, SNMP), performance monitoring, security, and user interfaces. • Support Lab IP network. • Support Element Management testing of new releases. • Develop automation and scripting as needed to support integration and test activities. • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and work with hardware, software, and system engineers to identify root cause. • Analyze test results and prepare test reports. • Report results to Software Development and System Validation groups, and participate in information exchange between the groups to ensure quality systems and testing are delivered to customers.
SKILLS:
• Knowledge in computer and data communication systems, networking, and telecomms in general • Ability to develop integration strategies, integration and test plans to enhance phased software/hardware/system development. • Ability to develop test plans/procedures and subsequent test script code for automated functional, stress, acceptance, and integration testing of core switching systems and modules. • Ability to resolve issues and adequately document test progress and results. • Experience testing and integrating element management user interfaces to include (EMS, GDMO, SNMP, and TL1). • TCP/IP and understanding of IP networking.

Thoroughness and completeness is essential. • Experience with formal test documentation tools and various test equipment in a lab environment required • Previous development experience with UNIX, Windows NT, C, Xrunner, and Labview desired
